UAS Education & Flight Training

Build UAS skills for public safety, inspections and aerial mapping. GRG matches basic and advanced flight training, FAA Part 107 exam preparation, and mission-specific instruction to your aircraft and operators' experience.

Program scope

Programs can combine written curriculum, hands-on instruction and scenario-based practice. Learning objectives, prerequisites, equipment, delivery format and assessment are agreed before training.

  • Basic and advanced flight: Preflight checks, flight controls, practical maneuvers, aircraft maintenance and emergency procedures.
  • FAA Part 107 exam preparation: Regulations, airspace, weather, flight planning and knowledge-test preparation.
  • Public safety and incident response: Search-and-rescue planning, thermal search techniques, crew coordination, and safe UAS support for hazardous-material incidents.
  • Thermal imaging and inspection: Camera setup, image interpretation, asset-inspection workflows and documentation.
  • Mapping and photogrammetry: Flight planning, ground sample distance, ground control points, stitched aerial maps and data-processing workflows.
  • Operator proficiency: Practical exercises and evaluations using NIST-developed test methods where appropriate.

Red Air & Drone-Swarm Training

Prepare teams to recognize and respond to unmanned-aircraft challenges in a controlled training environment. GRG scopes Red Air and drone-swarm training support around the unit's learning objectives, training site, and exercise plan.

Program scope
